Food Future Talks Series with Jake Woodhouse of Foodoo

Jake and Loz are the founders of “Foodoo” an app that helps you get personalised recipes and where you can organically shop for ingredients.

Picture a typical London Sunday afternoon, likely a bit of drizzle, a couple relaxing at home:

  • Jake: “Loz, what are you doing over there?”

  • Loz: “I am trying to work out what to cook!!”

  • Jake: “How the hell can that be taking 30 minutes??!!”

  • Loz: “I just can’t find something suitable to my current requirements!!”

  • Jake: “What are your current requirements?”

  • Loz: “I am looking for a recipe with: no cruciferous vegetables, no mushrooms, no gluten, no refined sugar, warm, and flexitarian with regards to animal products…..”

  • Jake: “SURELY there is a technology company providing this kind of service, taking complexity, and simplifying it??!!.....”

  • GENESIS FOODOO

As niche as Loz’s requirement was, we will be forever grateful for it, as it represents the very first moment on our startup journey: we identified that finding a recipe suitable to your personal requirements is a problem.

Food Future Talks Series with Kay Richardson

Kay Richardson is the founder of multiple youth/food projects and organisations including Big Feed and Snack Habitat, which are two organisations tackling the importance of food education for children and youth.

In this Future Food Talk we speak to Kay about the work her organisations do and the importance of quality education and training for children with food to tackle such health issues as undernutrition and obesity, food familiarity and connection, and how the community can get involved with helping children learn more about how to grow, prepare and cook simple delicious and nutritious food for themselves.

About the Big Feed
The Big Feed social strategy is to present young people with various food concepts that address their health, culture, technology, media, politics, environment, wealth and community to show how food connects to their lives (physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual). We urge educators to place food in a psychosocial and business context in order to make it relevant, rather than leading with nutrition or dietetics. Read more HERE

Food Future Talks Series with Hannah Churton The Worm Monger

Hannah is an overly enthusiastic worm composter whose penchant for composting and bad plant puns led to the creation of the The Worm Monger, an insta blog that allows her to thoroughly indulge both passions. In the depths of the COVID lockdown she saw an opportunity to expand her worm empire and she started a community compost hub on her suburban street. In the four months since it started, the hub has processed a tonne of food waste and is selling the vermicompost back to the community from which it came. All proceeds go to wasteaid.org. It’s circular economy at its dirty best!
