Ben Mac is a familiar face around many City of Melbourne food events having served as their Food Sustainability contractor, particularly helping us to deal with our kitchen waste. Ben started his food career as a chef in some of Melbourne’s top restaurants, Supernormal and Top Paddock to name a few.

After studying Social Science (Environment) at RMIT Ben began to dig deep into his understanding and learning of food systems particularly within the hospitality sector, when sustainability principles are balanced everybody benefits.

Ben developed the Social Food Project by bringing together ethical and sustainable growers of food and those that love to eat it with shared stories of each hero ingredient and the food journey.

Currently Ben lives in London where he’s completing his Masters in Food Policy and establishing We Eat Local in the UK.
