Great Start to Neighbourhood Circle Nights in Melbourne

Fantastic way to kick off the Neighbourhood Circle Nights with the Change Maker Tour and a celebration of Fair Trade Fortnight. Last Thursday night at the Immigration Museum, Mitos Urgel inspired by sharing the story of her organisation WEAVE and how Fair Trade makes a difference in the lives of refugees and displaced communities, particularly vulnerable women and children on the Thai/Myanmar border. Mitos was joined in a panel discussion with Senthil Nathan (CEO, Fairtrade ANZ), Georgian Cohen (Head of Certification at Social Traders), and Nick Savaidis, Founder of Etiko."

It was a distinct honour to have the privilege of hosting Mitos Urgel in Melbourne as a pivotal component of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand's transformative Changemaker Tour. Throughout her stay, Mitos captivated and invigorated numerous individuals, leaving an indelible impact through her inspiring speeches and meaningful interactions with students. Her presence was an enriching experience, not only for our local fair traders and social enterprises in Melbourne but also for the broader fair trade community.

Anticipation is high as we look forward to forging robust collaborations with our partners in Asia. These partnerships hold the promise of fostering progressive change and collectively advancing the cause of fair trade. In addition, there is a shared enthusiasm for amplifying the resonance of the fair trade message across Australia. With Mitos' inspiration as our driving force, we are poised to embark on a journey of greater awareness, advocacy, and positive transformation in the realm of fair trade.
