Co-Founder
Small Fires

Grace is a Jill-Of-All-Trades and the over-communicator at Small Fires. Originally born in New Zealand and now living in Australia, Grace loves to work with organisations that have impact at their core, telling great stories and building communities. Small Fires is her way of creating the impact she wants to see in the world - both in terms of the things businesses produce and the way they work.

As a child, Grace’s favourite game was spotlight (a kind of hide-and-seek in the dark). She wanted to be an archaeologist when she grew up.

  • About Small Fires: Small Fires makes books and educational toys that do good for curious young minds and the world they live in. We make it delightful to learn about difference and to learn differently, with multilingual stories and games that celebrate diversity. We reinvest our profits into the makers behind each sustainably made product as well as nurturing more emerging creatives.

Title: You Make Your Own Rules
Synopsis: We all know the unspoken rules of startup success: grow big, grow fast, grow now. Since presenting at the Early Ethical Enterprise Pitch competition last year, we’ve come up against these norms countless times... and rebelled against them. In this interactive session, we’ll share our unconventional “successes” and show how breaking the status quo is often about what happens behind the scenes.
