Gavin Smith joined Bosch Australia in 1990 following 10 years in various Information Technology roles at a number of well-known Multinationals in Australia and New Zealand. Initially heading Bosch’s IT functions for the region, Gavin successfully transitioned his career from IT into sales and general management in 1997, going on to hold a number of senior leadership positions including General Manager Automotive Original Equipment Sales, Regional President of the Powertrain Division from 2003 and Regional President of the Vehicle Safety Division from 2008. In 2011, Gavin was promoted to head Bosch’s business in Oceania as Chairman and President.

In addition to his Bosch roles Gavin is a non-executive director of Alkane Resources (ASX:ALK), Australian Strategic Materials (ASX:ASM), and is a member of the advisory boards for the CSIRO and the Victorian Skills Authority.

Gavin holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand and an MBA from Monash University. Gavin is a passionate advocate for reducing homelessness and for sparking children’s enthusiasm for STEM, dedicating time to both.
