Sewing and Craft Teacher

Hi my name is Melissa and I am passionate about teaching people how they can update their fashion image by using upcycling methods. I have worked as a fashion designer and teacher for the last 25 years and find myself questioning the sustainability of “fast fashion” and how it leads to disposable consumption attitudes.
My philosophy is buy less and be creative with what you already have in your wardrobe. In my workshops we chop, stitch, mend and remake pre loved items. My aim is to encourage the sense of empowerment that is gained by taking control of items you would normally discard and turning them into something treasured.
