Who can exhibit at the Fair@Square festival

Moral Fairground wants Fair@Square fair-trade + ethical festival 2010 to be authentic in its mission to have a positive impact on the environment and people by supporting fair and ethical trade and to Third World producers and Ethical business.

Credibility in a Fair + Ethical Festival is everything. When consumers see the Fair Trade Certified label, they know without a shadow of a doubt that what they are buying is made in an economically just and ecologically sustainable fashion.

The below criteria has been established to ensure the authenticity of products and services that are exhibited and thus the integrity and credibility of the show to attendees. Moral Fairground organisers screen all applications and reserve the right, at any time, to deny entry to the show any company, product or service which they believe does not meet these criteria.

Fair@Square fair trade + ethical festival 2010 criteria:

  • Fairtrade – if your product is Fairtrade Labeling Organization (FLO) accredited and carries this symbol. more

  • Ethical – If you buy your product from IFAT members, now known as World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). more

  • Ethical – if you are a member of Fair Trade Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ). more

  • Local – if you are a local producer which employs materials that are Fairtrade accredited or material that come from IFAT/WFTO members or that derives from sustainable sources.

  • Non member –if your products do not carry the Fair Trade label or you are not a member of FTAANZ, you maybe able to participate at the Fair@Square Festival 2010 if your organisation can demonstrate that your products or services are in line with the objectives of Fair trade and meet one or more of the following criteria:

    1) Ethical Businesses e.g. Ethical Investments,Ethical jobs, Ethical Clothing Australia, creative industry and craft industry

    2) Fair Trade workplaces or communities or businesses demonstrating social and environmental responsibility

    3) NGO or campaign group with explicit objectives or campaigns relating to fair trade, justice for developing country farmers or workers, overseas development, etc

    4) Social enterprises or social businesses addressing local or overseas poverty or disadvantaged communities through their commercial activities

    5) Businesses or organisations growing, selling local food products from small farmers or handicrafts from small producers or cooperatives

    6) Businesses explicitly focused on addressing Australian indigenous empowerment and economic development.

    7) Businesses and groups advocating Ethical food production

    8) Organic Food and environmental groups like businesses that are able to demonstrate ethical and environmental standards like growing, selling local, organic food products from small farmers.
