Fair@Square 2011 Volunteer roles:
Volunteers are needed in all aspects of the festival; this is a fantastic
opportunity to be involved with the very first festival of this kind
in Victoria. Fair@Square 2011 is relying on volunteers to make this
event a great success and to ensure the sustainability of this event
going forward.
Information Hub Volunteers
The information Hub is a meeting place and will have a number of functions
including distribution of Activity Program, name registration, evaluation
reports, general information about the event and Fair and Ethical trade
The Information Hub volunteer will need good communication skills, have
an understanding of fair and ethical trade and should enjoy meeting and
greeting people (8 volunteers required per day half day or full day shifts)
Activity Tent Volunteers
The Activity Tents are designed to engage the audience by providing an
educational, interactive and fun experience to people attending; we have
four major Activity tents, which will run 5 to 6 activities in each tent.
Volunteers are required to assist Activity Tent Co-ordinators to ensure
each activity is delivered on a timely manner, that guests are guided
to the activity, that each activity is set up as per co-ordinators plan
and with technical support. In some instances Volunteers will be required
to run a particular session. Volunteers will be working with Activity
Tent Co-ordinators directly. The Activity Tent Volunteer will need to
be organised and be a team player (5 or 6 people are required per tent
per day, half day or full day shifts available)
Fashion Show Volunteers
The Fair Fashion show will showcase the latest in fair trade, ethical,
recycled and no sweatshop label fashion. The show will take place on
the main stage at Federation Square. Volunteers are required to help
out with the productions side of the fashion, show to ensure the fashion
show is delivered professionally and on a timely manner. The Fashion
Show Volunteers should ideally have a background in ethical fashion or
have been involved in fashion show production. The Fashion Show Volunteers
will report to the Fashion Co-ordinators. (15 volunteers are required
to run the fashion show)
Fair Entertainment
Fair Entertainment will bring a myriad of performances from new and emerging
artists, contemporary and traditional, the Fair Entertainment will
provide a forum for artist to express themselves via their music and
song. It will provide a platform for culturally diverse artists to
share their rhythms and for new and emerging artists to share their
passion. Fair Entertainment will run all day long for both days on
the main stage at Federation Square, we require volunteers to assist
co-oridnators with managing acts and performances (4 volunteers are
required per day)
Start Up Volunteers
The Start Up volunteers will help with the set up of the festival.
Some of the duties will include directing exhibitors to their location,
directing contractors, ensuring activity tents are set up as per plan,
set up information hub. The Start Up Volunteer will need to have excellent
communication skills and will need to be able to direct people and
follow plans. (4 Volunteers are required for early morning shift)
Finish Up Volunteers
The Finish Up volunteer will help with packing down the festival. The
duties will include that exhibitors unpack on time, traffic in site area
will need to be monitored and controlled. The Finish Up Volunteer will
need to have excellent communication skills and will need to be able
to direct people and follow times and plans (8 Volunteers are required
for evening shift)
Event Support Volunteers
The Event Support Volunteer will provide overall support to exhibitors,
checking with exhibitors throughout the day, checking with Activity
Tents co-ordinators and Information Hub, making sure requirements are
met. The Event Support Volunteers will also need to communicate with
exhibitors that are likely to participate in activities. These volunteer
will also be required to understand emergency procedures and safety
hazards. Event Support Volunteers will need to have organisational
skills, good communication skills, ability to act quickly, a good eye
for safety, ability to act calmly and quickly during emergency. (8
Volunteers are required per day half shift or full shift available)
Photography and Videographer Volunteers
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to gain photography
and/or filming experience within a festival/event environment. You
will be documenting Festival events, performances, exhibitors and volunteers.
Your documentation would then be shown on the Moral Fairground facebook,
You Tube and website. You should be friendly, approachable and have
your own camera or filming equipment.
Website Support Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to assist with supporting and maintaining
the website leading to the event and on a casual basis. This position
can be as simple as helping to add articles, photos, update and upload
content for the website home and content pages, backup the site, assist
in the development of the Fair@Square Registration web page and maintaining
online registration database. If there are things on the site you would
like to see improved we welcome your help and advice.
