Victorian Fair Trade Festival 2011
Fair Trade Fortnight happens globally with events, festivals and activities happening
all around the world to celebrate the Fair Trade movement and campaign
for justice in trade practices and promote sustainable environment and
social responsibility.
This year Fair Trade Fortnight will be celebrated
from Saturday 7th to 22nd of May 2011. A number of events have been planned
Australia wide during the fortnight and the theme for Fair Trade Fortnight
2011 will be “Show Off Your Swap”. Moral Fairground has organised
4 very exciting events to celebrate Fair Trade during this time including
the annual Victorian Fair Trade Festival,at the historic Queen Victoria
Market.
The Victorian Fair Trade Festival will mark the end of the Fair Trade Fortnight for 2011.
The event will take place on 22nd
May 2011 at the historic Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne.
The Queen Victoria Market was strategically chosen as a location as it’s
a place of trade, it’s a place where people come together and exchange
goods and stories. It’s a place that embraces all cultures and people
from all walks of life. Most importantly it’s a place where people come
with the intention to sample goods, make purchases and discover new products.
The Victorian Fair Trade Festival is a platform for fair trade businesses
to showcase their products and services; it will provide opportunities
for the thousands of people attending to sample fair trade product, experience
what fair trade is all about, interact with the stall holders and learn
about the benefits of making the swap to fair trade.
The festival is free to the public starting at 10.00am to 4.00pm, on 22nd May 2011 and it will
feature:
• A lively entertainment corner with music and dance throughout the day
• A kids corner to keep the children busy with creative craft activities
• The “Show Off your Swap” art Exhibition and
• 30 Exhibitors
