The Scarf Project
Moral Fairground and RMIT students embarked on a mission to raise money for Lao Sericulture water, a not for profit organisation and registered World Fair Trade member in Laos.

Silk scarves made by hand in the villages in Laos were hand printed by RMIT students and were available for sale at the Fair Fashion show.

Funds raised from the sale of the scarves are directed toward the water filter and toilet project for schools and hospitals in remote villages of Laos.

Out of the 11 scarves produced, 4 were sold raising $600.00, which will allow us to buy 10 water filters.

Our aim is to sell the remainder of the scarves for this very worthwhile project so that we can reach our target of being able to purchase 30 filters.

Each scarf is individually made and unique, these is an amazing gift idea for someone special or simply buy a one off piece for yourself and know that you are supporting an fantastic cause.

Visual Merchandising
These days pop up shops and pop up markets are becoming a real trend for shoppers, people are keen to meet the producers and the craft people behind the products as well as knowing where things are made and produced.

Having a stall at a market is not longer a simple affair, competition is fierce as exhibitors are becoming creative with the way they display their wares and interact with the walking crowds.

We spoke to Michelle Giaccotto about what to consider when setting up your pop up shop or your stall. Michelle commenced her career in Visual Merchandising back in 1990 at Myer Doncaster after completing a four-year degree in Fine Arts and eventually moving to major in store sales, catalogue fixtures, Department Refurbishments and Major Season Events both at local and national level. Michelle also started her own contemporary jewellery label and has experience in setting up market stalls and exhibits.
