What's behind the label
Fairtrade Label:
When a product carries the Fairtrade Label it means the producers and traders have met Fairtrade standards. The standards are designed to address the imbalance of power in trading relationships, unstable markets and the injustices of conventional trade. Products carrying the label are subject to third party certification so that consumers can be confident that purchase is helping to tackle poverty and empower producers.
World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO):
The WFTO is a global authority on Fair Trade. Membership of the WFTO is limited to organizations that demonstrate a 100% Fair Trade commitment and apply its 10 Principles of Fair Trade. WFTO members who are monitored against these Principles are listed in the FT100 index of world-leading Fair Trade brands, businesses and organisations. Not just the pioneers of the movement but the innovators of the market.
Fair Trade Association Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ):
The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ) Inc is an incorporated, not-for-profit, member based body for all individuals and organisations interested in and supportive of fair trade. FTAANZ is also the sister organisation of Fairtrade Labelling Australia & New Zealand (FLANZ). FLANZ is responsible for the FAIRTRADE Label in Australia and New Zealand
Ethical Clothing Australia
Ethical Clothing Australia is a joint business-union initiative that
assists the local clothing industry to ensure that Australian clothing
workers receive fair wages and work in decent conditions. It does this
through an accreditation and labelling system that provides consumers
with a way to identify ethically-made Australian clothing. When you see
the Ethical Clothing Australia trademark on a product, it means it was
made in Australia and everyone involved in its production received, as
a minimum, the legal rates of pay and conditions. For more information
