Cameron Neil
Cameron Neil is a social entrepreneur and strategist
engaged in building and tweaking markets, institutions, businesses and
networks to achieve more good for people and planet. Cameron recently finished
a 7 year stint bringing the regional fair trade movement and market to
life with Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand. He serves on the Ross House Association Executive Committee in
finance and fundraising roles, is developing a pilot project on indigenous
fair trade, and is nurturing a relaunch of the International Young Professionals
Foundation he co-founded in 2001 to help achieve the Millennium Development
Goals. Over the last decade, Cameron has proven himself as a leader, campaigner,
facilitator, public speaker, manager, researcher and writer. He communicates
on food sustainability and ethics, social enterprise and innovation, good
business, and tackling global poverty and sustainable development.
Hiroshi Kikuchi
Creative Director - Brandism® Pty Ltd
Hiroshi is a Creative Director of Brandism® Pty Ltd, a multi-award winning
and multi-disciplined creative agency with a core focus on brand creation
and strategy management. Hiroshi's career spans well over 20 years, and
in which time has accumulated specialised experience in such areas as brand
and corporate identity, packaging for local and export markets, advertising,
web-site and new media development for mainly "Fast
Moving Consumer Goods" (FMCG) industries. He has been featured as a guest speaker for the Victorian
Government's - Design Victoria "Design Ready" series of seminars. Hiroshi's company has also been the recipient of Seven Gold
Awards from the prestigious Packaging Council of Australia (PCA) six years
in a row.
Susan Long
Events Manager
– Law Institute of Victoria
As the Events Manager at the Law Institute of Victoria, the leading
membership association for Victorian lawyers, Susan has organised
hundreds of events including sold out productions at the Melbourne
International Comedy Festival, Fun Runs for 1000+ participants,
panel discussions at various Melbourne festivals, and corporate
events featuring prominent speakers from the legal, business
and political arena. Susan has also managed the largest membership
section at the LIV where she worked with over 70 volunteers to
produce a triannual journal, mooting and negotiation competitions,
a mentoring program between judges and young lawyers, submissions
to government, a monthly newsletter and many events for the membership
section. Prior to life at the LIV, Susan worked as a commercial
lawyer, focusing on mergers and acquisitions.
In 2009, Susan explored her interest in fairtrade by coordinating
the Fair Living tent at the Fair@Square Festival. She thinks
that the best part of her job is bringing inspiring people and
the knowledge they have, to the public’s attention.
Georgia Garrard
Georgia Garrard is an ecologist at the University
of Melbourne. She has a PhD from RMIT which investigated ways in which
science can be used to better inform the conservation of threatened species.
During her time at RMIT, Georgia taught a number of sustainability orientated
subjects, and developed a keen interest in Fair Trade and ethical purchasing.
She believes that, by understanding the social, cultural and environmental
impacts of products and services, consumers become empowered to make
change and can have an important positive impact. Prior to completing
her PhD, Georgia worked in environmental consulting and spent some time
managing an eco-lodge on Tasmania’s Freycinet Peninsula.
Steve Waldegrave
Steve Waldegrave currently works for the
Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and before that
worked at the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Victoria. Steve is
a career public servant who specialises in strategy and policy advice.
He has worked in British, Australian and New Zealand Governments in both
operational and central government agencies. He has been a Deputy Director
of the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, including representing the
UK at the OECD. He has also run his own strategy and policy consultancy
called Focusmatters.
Steve’s voluntary work has included being the Urgent Action Coordinator
for Amnesty International in Wellington and a volunteer for the Victorian
State Emergency Services (VICSES). In his spare time, Steve loves to
cook, eat, speak French, practice outdoor survival skills and muck around
in the garden.
